Stories about romance, beautiful damsels, handsome heroes and plots, which kept him, hooked. 1. I remember some similar ones..but those I recall were from the early fifties. 4th grade-6-7th grade. But I loved Valentine's Day at School. There was that decorated box on the teacher's desk to shove our valentine envelopes through. My mother told me every year of grade school, "Now, Celie Ann, when your teacher asks for mothers to be Room Mothers, DO NOT RAISE YOUR HAND. But I did every time..I wanted my mother to be a room mother, come visit with her special cookies and cupcake, and dressed up so pretty as she always was. But then, she never scholded me for it, either.

  2. Celia,
I remember decorating a shoe box so we could put out Valentine's Day cards in. That was so much fun. I love that you used to raise your hand and volunteer your mother to be the homeroom mother. That's so sweet. How wonderful she was a good sport about it, too.

  3. Karen, this is a beautiful anthology, as always. And it is nice to meet new (to me) authors in our publishing "family." The stories sound like a great mix for short reading and I wish you many sales in this special holiday season.

  5. Here is a little snippet from the beginning of my story, "A Valentine Wedding".
Guy, Earl of Tining Abbey had returned to England and spent several weeks in London recovering from the death of his father. Times had changed for him. The day he'd gone off to fight in the Peninsular War he'd had every woman, young and old, swooning over his light dragoon uniform. Today, he was lucky to be noticed.
Against his better judgment and with the encouragement of his mother, he attended several balls. The ladies had turned away as would be expected considering a French cannon ball had severed his arm at the elbow. Now healed, he'd come to accept the inconvenience it presented.
My question to you, my dear reader, what will he do?

  9. I loved Valentine's Day as a kid. I would always get the silliest box of Valentine's Day cards and plan out who I was going to give them too amd I would attach candy to it. So much fun. It was a big deal in school to get one but also give.
